1. Background and Purpose


The World Schools League (WSL) aims to provide a platform for students worldwide to showcase their creativity and artistic talents through the International Art Competition. The competition encourages students to express their thoughts and visions on global issues, cultural exchange, and peaceful coexistence through art. It also promotes cross-cultural understanding and dialogue among students from diverse backgrounds, while inspiring creativity and imagination.  




2. Competition Title


World Schools League International Art Competition.  


The World Schools League is also seeking sponsors for the competition’s naming rights. Schools, organizations, and individuals interested in sponsoring the event are welcome to contact the committee at info@worldschoolsleague.org for more details.  




3. Eligibility


The competition is open to students currently enrolled in schools worldwide, divided into the following three groups:  


- Primary School (ages 6-12) 


- Secondary School (ages 13-18)


- University Students (ages 19-26)




4. Competition Theme


"Our World, Our Future"


Participants are required to create artworks centered around the theme, expressing their understanding and reflections on global issues such as environmental protection, social development, multiculturalism, peace, and more. Students are encouraged to integrate their cultural backgrounds and personal visions of the world into their artwork.  




5. Artwork Requirements


- Format: Artworks can be created using any traditional mediums (e.g., watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, sketching, etc.). Digital artworks are also accepted, and hand-drawn works may be digitized for submission.  


- Size: The physical size of the artwork must be A3 (297mm x 420mm).  


- Submission Format: Participants must submit a high-quality digital image of their artwork (resolution of at least 300 dpi) in JPEG or PNG format. The file size must not exceed 10 MB.  


- Additional Materials: Each entry must include a brief description (under 300 words) explaining the inspiration, theme, and creative process behind the artwork.  




6. How to Enter


- Registration: All participants must register and upload their artwork through the World Schools League official website or the platforms of partner schools. Each participant is limited to submitting one piece of artwork.  


- Submission Deadline: Registration and artwork submission deadline is January 31, 2025.  


- Eligibility Verification: Participants must provide proof of current enrollment from their school, which must be a member of the World Schools League.  




7. Judging Criteria


- Relevance to Theme (40%): How closely the artwork aligns with the competition theme.  


- Creativity and Innovation (30%): The originality and artistic expression of the piece.  


- Technical Skill (20%): The mastery and proficiency in the medium used.  


- Artistic Impact (10%): The emotional and visual impact the artwork has on viewers.  




8. Judging Process


- Preliminary Selection: A panel of judges from the World Schools League will conduct an initial review and select the top 100 artworks in each category.  


- Final Selection: A jury of renowned international artists, educators, and cultural representatives will evaluate the shortlisted artworks and determine the winners for each group.  


- Announcement: The competition results will be announced on February 15, 2025, via the World Schools League official website and partner media platforms. During the competition, select outstanding works will be showcased on partner media to promote the event.  




9. Awards


Each category (Primary, Secondary, and University) will have the following awards:  


- Gold Award: 1 winner (Trophy, certificate, and $1,000 scholarship)  


- Silver Award: 2 winners (Medal, certificate, and $500 scholarship)  


- Bronze Award: 3 winners (Medal, certificate, and $300 scholarship)  


- Honorable Mentions: 10 winners (Certificate)  




All finalists will receive participation certificates from the World Schools League. Winning artworks will be exhibited in an international touring exhibition and may be featured in the annual WSL Art Book.  




10. Timeline  


- Registration and Submission: From now until January 31, 2025  


- Results Announcement: February 15, 2025  


- Award Ceremony and Exhibition: Summer 2025 (during the International Principals’ Summit)  




11. Entry Fee 


Each participant may submit only one artwork. The entry fee is $10 per participant. Please email info@worldschoolsleague.org for payment instructions.  




12. Additional Guidelines  


- All submitted artworks must be original. Any form of plagiarism or copying will result in immediate disqualification.  


- The World Schools League reserves the right to publicly display, publish, and promote the winning artworks. By submitting an entry, participants agree to these terms.
